Bye bye Komen

datePosted on 08:41, February 4th, 2012 by QT

It doesn’t matter to me if they reversed their decision not to fund Planned Parenthood. They have shown their real color, and i’ve picked my alternative organization (plus Planned Parenthood) for my hard earned money.

Staying sane in a crazy world: the pharmaceutical companies

datePosted on 12:04, January 10th, 2010 by QT

Do you realize that you’re being bombarded every day with commercials on new drugs that cure old diseases or newly defined illnesses? The huge pharmaceutical companies have to do something to support their growth and satisfy Wall Street. So there are two things being pushed on to the citizens of the world:

  1. Defining new illesses and syndromes, whether real or just psychological, so that they can produce “new” drugs to “cure” them. Start paying attention to the new drug ads and see for yourself how many new syndromes are psychological.
  2. Finding new drugs to cure known sicknesses, though the existing drugs are doing just fine. How can they persuade us to buy the new drugs? By defining ever more extreme cases of that known sickness.

Don’t you notice new drugs now have more and more serious side effects, some even more dangerous than the sickness that they claim to cure? Stand-up comedians have joked about this more and more.

So how to stay sane and not be drawn into this whirlpool? Believe in your own strength, have self-discipline, don’t turn yourself into a wimp who survives only by gulping down drugs every single day. Don’t take the easy way out.

The Segway is not “green” for you

datePosted on 11:52, January 10th, 2010 by QT

Just came across the price of a new segway online, for about $6500. This got me thinking about this “world changing” flop of a device. Aren’t you glad that this Personal Transport device didn’t catch on? Americans are not exercising enough as it is. A bicycle gives you a workout while taking you where you want to go. The Segway has no health benefit, so it’s not “green” for you, if you want to put it that way, using another hot catchy word of the day.

Sometimes Americans are slow to see the obvious

datePosted on 17:34, September 18th, 2009 by QT

So now the American Heart Association is telling people that they need to reduce sugar intake by 70%!
What took you so long, Americans? We Asian immigrants to this promised land have long realized that fact. We know to go buy our cakes and drink the juices found in the Asian bakeries and markets, which have much less sugar in them, and stay away from the often too sweet stuffs available in the supermarkets here. We lament the spread of sugary doughnuts to Asian countries like Japan, fearing it will corrupt the populations there.

It’s funny looking back at the way Americans make an enemy out of food: first fat, then carb, now sugar! Who wants to make a guess what will be next?

Here’s what you should do: enjoy your food, and I mean everything, fat, carb, sugar, but do it all in moderation, please!

AVMA not giving in to ridiculous PETA nuts

datePosted on 01:27, June 13th, 2009 by QT

The American Veterinary Medical Association is holding a convention in Seattle next month, and plan to use the fish tossing such as done in Pike Place Market in their team-building event.

Now PETA jumped in and protested that this is animal cruelty! The AVMA rightly ignores this claim.

I’m speechless, where is the common sense in this? Against the professionals who dedicate their time to saving animals lives no less! PETA is STUPIDITY.

Live near an airport, and complain about the noise

datePosted on 17:55, April 20th, 2009 by QT

Some people living near Seatac airport have been fighting, oh let’s see, for over 20 years now?, about noise and the third runway. costing taxpayers lots of money doing research and defending in court.

So, you bought a house near the only international airport of the NorthWest (getting a good deal for that I’m sure), and you don’t know it would be noisy? Now that just doesn’t make any sense! If I buy a house near the train track, don’t I think it would be noisy? If I move to the country next to a farm, can I sue the farmer for operating his equipment at 5am? If I buy a house in the flood plain, don’t I expect my house might flood at one point? If I live in california, don’t you think I should have “earthquake” in my mind?

People, don’t fat up the lawyers, they’re no good as food!

People are losing their common sense

datePosted on 17:48, April 20th, 2009 by QT

Here around us I’ve seen more and more people losing their common sense. Why? Is it because life is getting too stressful? Is it because of the self-imposed PC? From today I’ll start gathering examples where people are losing their grasp on the common sense.
